Design Specifications
- The first item to consider is files. All artwork should be provided with fonts and artwork. Different computers cannot open files without specific fonts or artwork used. In doing this up front, this will save many headaches.
- All artwork should be editable in some form. The best applications for editing are Indesign, Quark, and Adobe Illustrator. However all files, including EPS or application files, should be converted to files that can be easily opened.
- Images used must be 4-Color, also known as, CMYK (which stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black). These are the typical printer slates which printers recognize.
- Any images that are scanned should be scanned at 300 dpi, as mentioned previously, so they are at the highest quality.
- High resolution PDFs are acceptable but must be saved as CMYK with all fonts embedded.
